Farm fined £10,000 for devastating discharge

Kent strawberry farm Working Wonders has been fined £10,000 after admitting a discharge of chlorpyrifos - an organophosphate insecticide. Lewes Crown Court heard that the release killed invertebrates and fish along 15 kilometres of a tributary of the river Ouse. The Environment Agency described the incident as the worst in Sussex since 1996.
