Blue Circle to trial burn chemical waste in Westbury kiln

Lafarge, which owns the Blue Circle cement works in Westbury, is seeking permission from the Environment Agency to burn liquid chemical waste in a kiln at the site. Before a trial of the fuel can take place the company is required to consult with local residents. The site already has permission to burn tyres. Blue Circle is expecting to cut its coal consumption by 68,000 tonnes per year by using both waste fuels.
