Greenpeace nails its colours to the MBT mast
Greenpeace is urging local authorities to use mechanical/biological treatment (MBT) systems, including anaerobic digestion, as an alternative to the incineration of municipal waste. The group claims that interest in MBT is growing among councils - but the need to landfill the final organic output could put councils off, particularly if it counts as "biodegradable" waste.
