Shredders claim mountain to climb to reach ELV recovery targets
There is a serious risk that the UK will fail to meet the first set of targets under the EU Directive on end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), according to major shredder operators Sims and EMR. The targets, to be achieved by 2006, will only be reached if sizeable markets for recycled plastics, glass and rubber from ELVs are rapidly established.
