Brussels launches debate on GM crop co-existence
Rules to govern the economic consequences of cross-contamination from growing GM crops near conventional or organic crops should be left to Member States to decide within limits, EU Agriculture Commissioner Franz Fischler has recommended. His views have disappointed some Member States and NGOs who want EU legislation on the issue - and NGOs are threatening to boycott a Commission roundtable on co-existence in April.
