DuPont in firing line over fluorochemicals
Manufacturers of non-stick coatings like Teflon and Scotchguard are under pressure following an announcement by the US Environmental Protection Agency that it has identified "potential human health concerns" over a key chemical, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). DuPont is in the front line as a major manufacturer - and is also facing legal proceedings over pollution of a drinking water source near one of its production sites.
