Shift to diesel underpins steady fall in new car CO<SUB>2</SUB> emissions
Average carbon dioxide emissions from new UK cars have fallen for the fifth consecutive year - though largely as a result of fiscal incentives and a switch to diesel rather than technological improvements. The Government has now challenged manufacturers to produce an "ultra low carbon" car.
