Waste strategy targets will be missed, warn MPs
The Government will "not come close" to meeting any of the recycling or recovery targets in its waste strategy, according to a report from the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee.1 Inadequate funding and a lack of clear guidance, it says, have made it harder for councils to reach their recycling targets. The report also urges the Government to develop more effective policies for diverting industrial and commercial waste from landfill.
