MPs question sustainability of Government's housing plans

The Government has failed to take into account potential environmental constraints on its plan to build more than one million new homes in south-east England, according to a report by the Commons Committee which scrutinises the work of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Major problems include the already overstretched water supplies in the housing growth areas and the risk of stimulating unsustainable transport patterns.
