Grid to add 25% to cost of Scottish renewables

Upgrading the electricity grid to enable renewables to be connected in Scotland could cost almost £1.5 billion, according to a report from the Department of Trade and Industry.1 Proposals for a sub-sea cable in the Irish Sea have been put on the back burner because of even higher costs.
