North-east landfill firms dominate hazardous waste plans

A dozen commercial landfill businesses are planning to operate sites for hazardous waste disposal in England after the ban on co-disposal kicks in next July, according to ENDS' analysis of permit applications. If consented, the sites represent a significant potential landbank for hazardous waste disposal - dominated by the north-east. Meanwhile, there are set to be no sites in Wales, and only limited capacity in the south.
