Leaking sewers threaten groundwater
Research for the Environment Agency suggests that leaking sewers may be causing pollution of drinking water aquifers with pathogenic bacteria and viruses. The findings draw attention to the problem of leaking sewers and concern that the water industry is not spending enough on sewerage infrastructure.
