Crunch time for green commuting taxes
A report slipped out late last year by the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DTLR) concludes that tax incentives are a powerful tool for encouraging commuters to switch from their cars. It challenges the Government to decide between limited measures to support employers' travel plans and a more ambitious "big bang" approach.1
