MCERTS extended to cover water monitoring

The Environment Agency has announced plans to extend its monitoring certification scheme (MCERTS) to cover continuous water monitoring systems.1 The scheme is designed to improve the quality of monitoring data at industrial sites by requiring adherence to certain standards. It already covers other areas such as monitoring stack emissions and chemical testing of soils (ENDS Report 321, p 12 ). The Agency hopes the move will provide inspectors with greater confidence that water monitoring systems are fit for purpose.
