N Ireland drinking water challenge
The annual report of the Northern Ireland Drinking Water Inspectorate shows that 98.9% of water quality tests complied with regulatory standards in 2000 - little change in compliance over the past five years. Performance was below that in England and Wales, which recorded 99.8% compliance (ENDS Report 318, p 12 ).
