Nuclear lobby regroups after energy review

British Energy is still urging the Government to back its plans to build up to ten new nuclear power stations - despite the sceptical view of its cost estimates taken in the Performance and Innovation Unit's (PIU's) energy review. The Government's chief scientific adviser has stepped into the controversy by arguing that new nuclear capacity is needed to reduce the UK's greenhouse gas emissions.
