Lords hear conflicting views on EU proposals on GM food labelling

Retailers and environmental and consumer groups have clashed with the Government over its opposition to the labelling of foods derived from genetically modified organisms during a House of Lords inquiry. The US administration, meanwhile, made clear that it saw "no grounds for compromise" over EU proposals for labelling and traceability.
