Farmers in last-ditch fight over nitrate pollution

The main farming and landowning organisations in England have chastised the Government over its proposals to designate much or even all of the country as nitrate vulnerable zones (NVZs). The water industry is also concerned that the measures will increase sewage sludge disposal costs and require increased investment in sewage treatment.
