Spotlight on Whitehall inertia on timber procurement

A gulf between rhetoric and action in Government procurement of timber products has been highlighted by a Greenpeace protest against the use of "illegal" timber to refurbish the Cabinet Office. The action has drawn attention to Whitehall's inertia in implementing a "binding commitment" announced two years ago to buy only sustainable timber.
