Agency tightens procedures after Dee pollution incident

The Environment Agency is preparing to tighten up its response to pollution incidents following the major spill on the river Dee in 2000. Designation of the Dee catchment as the UK's first water protection zone appears to have been successful in raising awareness of water pollution, but the full impact will not be clear until next year.
