PVC industry agrees to phase out lead stabilisers by 2015

As part of its efforts to resist EU legislation, the PVC industry has agreed to phase out the 120,000 tonnes of lead additives per annum it currently uses, and has set new recycling targets for "collectable" roofing membranes and flooring. But Greenpeace claims that the programme's recycling initiatives would give an overall recycling rate of just 7% by 2010.
