Another procedural failure behind sewage pollution

Wessex Water has been fined £5,000 for discharging excessive levels of suspended solids into the river Stour from its Palmersford sewage works in Ferndown, Dorset, last September. The incident was the latest in a growing series involving failures by water industry staff to react adequately to equipment failures or alarms.
