New markets, energy savings boost cullet demand

Glass container manufacturers have appealed to councils to continue with colour-separated collection of glass rather than switch to collecting mixed glass for use as aggregate. Increasing the proportion of cullet used would cut the industry's energy bills - and is a vital part of some companies' planned contributions to the energy saving target in the sector's climate change agreement.
