Composters prepare to tackle food waste

The need for a step change in UK composting standards was spelled out in June at a Composting Association conference which examined concerns over foot and mouth and other animal diseases. The results of a Government risk assessment were presented,1 along with an outline of plans for a new regime to regulate the sector which could be in place by the end of the year.
