North West Water prosecuted for sewage flood

A failure at a sewage pumping station which resulted in extensive flooding in a Lancashire town has brought a £10,000 fine for North West Water. The penalty was imposed after the court heard that the company had repeatedly rejected warnings that its facility was to blame.
