Consumption cutbacks "on track", say laundry detergent producers
European laundry detergent producers are confident they will meet voluntary targets to cut per capita consumption of detergents and packaging by 10% between 1996 and 2002 - even though a progress report to 2000 shows they are only half way. Consumption in the UK is now slightly below the European average but remains twice as high as in Scandinavia.
