MPs hear of "total failure" in Government's timber buying policy

There has been a total failure to implement Government procurement policy on sustainable timber, environmental groups have told an inquiry by the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs admitted that recent adverse publicity has stirred Whitehall into life, but it does not see enforcing the policy as its responsibility.
