DEFRA dallies over disclosure of GM crop locations

Draft regulations for implementing the revised EU Directive on deliberate releases of genetically modified organisms in England were issued in June by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.1 They will narrow the scope of the Government's existing powers to modify or revoke GM consents - and also suggest that the Government remains wary of disclosing the locations of GM crops, in apparent breach of the Directive.
