Renewables obligation on the way in Northern Ireland

A draft energy Bill was issued for consultation by the Northern Ireland Executive on 20 June.1 The legislation deals primarily with regulation of the gas and electricity industries, but also provides for the establishment of a renewables obligation in Northern Ireland - though decisions on a renewable energy target for the Province have been put back till the autumn.
