Verifiers 'aghast' at draft rules for emissions trading scheme

The Government is hoping to minimise the costs of verifying emissions data for companies under climate change levy agreements (CCLAs) in a bid to ensure widespread participation in the UK emissions trading scheme. But verifiers have expressed alarm at the proposals - and also warn that they may be facing an unmanageable workload this winter.
