DEFRA admits that farms cause widespread eutrophication

A Government review of diffuse agricultural pollution has acknowledged for the first time that eutrophication is widespread in the lakes and rivers of England and Wales.1 The review, confirming that nitrate restrictions will need tightening, will guide impending policy decisions on promoting more sustainable agriculture.
