Foot and mouth inquiry slates mass pyres

The "lessons learned" inquiry into last year's foot and mouth crisis has concluded that the Government failed adequately to consider impacts from disposing of carcasses on open pyres.1 It finds that greater use of licensed landfills would have been possible and that open burning should not be used again.
