OPRA ratings: a new window on corporate performance

An important new tool for assessing how well - or how poorly - companies are managing their pollution risks has been unveiled by the Environment Agency. The regulator has at last published companies' scores under its operator and pollution risk appraisal (OPRA) scheme. The ratings point the finger at a hardcore of highly hazardous but poorly managed processes. They also offer an insight into the debate over whether certified environmental management systems (EMSs) lead to improved environmental performance
