Public Accounts Committee spares Entrust but seeks landfill tax changes

A "lack of transparency and overall accountability" for the landfill tax credits scheme was highlighted in a long-awaited report by the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee at the end of July.1 The MPs stopped short of recommending the replacement of Entrust, the scheme's regulator - but only after they had ripped up a confidentiality agreement signed by Entrust's former chief executive.
