"Less sensitive areas" finally bite the dust

The Scottish Executive has announced that it is to withdraw two less sensitive areas (LSAs) at Lerwick in Shetland and Stornaway in the Western Isles. The designations allow lower standards of sewage treatment than generally specified in the 1991 urban wastewater treatment Directive.
