Council's 'success' for variable waste charging

A variable charging scheme for household waste collection introduced twelve months ago has increased recovery of recyclables by 50% and significantly reduced waste to landfill, according to Blaby District Council. The results will add support to the arguments of bodies such as the Environment Agency and Friends of the Earth which want household waste charging reformed.
