Metals refiner explores battery recycling

Research into the extraction of heavy metals from mixed portable batteries is being carried out by Britannia Zinc at its smelting and refining works at Avonmouth. The feedstock will include consumer batteries collected from households in a Bristol pilot project. The initiatives could help in meeting EU targets for recycling and landfilling.
