Case put for separate collection of household hazardous waste

Separate collection of certain hazardous household wastes - including paints, oil, pesticides, energy-efficient light bulbs and treated timber - has been recommended in an official EU study published in August.1 However, the European Commission has dropped plans for a Directive to require such collections.
