Offshore wind 'to supply up to 5% of UK power'

The British Wind Energy Association is claiming that around 5,000MW of offshore wind capacity could be installed by 2010, enough to supply 4-5% of Britain's electricity. However, such growth would rely on clarity over future capital grants, licensing arrangements and potential restrictions arising from a strategic environmental assessment.
