DEFRA to consider remediation permits for contaminated land

Proposals for a new regime of land remediation permits that would ease regulatory burdens were submitted to Ministers in October.1 The working group behind the idea has also called for modifications to the waste licensing system - but its overall conclusions make it clear that controls aimed at reducing pollution risks in land remediation projects are here to stay.
