Road traffic increases by 3%

Levels of road traffic were 3% higher in the third quarter of 2002 than in the same period of 2001, according to the Department for Transport. The DfT says the rise partly reflects the impact of foot and mouth on traffic in the third quarter of 2001, and that the underlying rate of traffic growth is 1-2% per year. Goods vehicle traffic rose by 2% over the same period.
