Environmental groups target phthalates in cosmetics

Almost 80% of cosmetic products tested in a survey conducted by environmental groups contained phthalates - chemicals which are suspected of endocrine disruption and reproductive toxicity.1 The groups are calling for manufacturers to remove the compounds from their products and are asking the EU to introduce an outright ban.
