Commission unveils draft Directive to require appliance eco-design

Two previously separate proposals setting eco-design rules and minimum energy efficiency requirements for appliances have been merged in a new draft Directive on the eco-design of end-use equipment circulated by the European Commission in November. Environmental groups have criticised the proposal for failing to include measures to phase out the least efficient appliances.
