Agency slams 'meagre' fines for waste offences

The head of the Environment Agency in Wales criticised the "meagre" fines meted out for waste offences. The comment came after three family members who ran an illegal landfill for several years were fined a total of £750 for ten offences following a ten-day Crown Court hearing. The court also failed to award the Agency any of the estimated £25,000 it cost to mount the case.
