Scottish Water fined £10,000 for prolonged pollution

Scottish Water has been fined £10,000 after its Philipshill sewage treatment works near East Kilbride polluted the White Cart Water with sewage for several weeks. The incident in May and June 2001 led to complaints from the public, East Renfrewshire Council and a local angling club. The prosecution followed the submission of evidence by the Scottish Enviromental Protection Agency.
