Generators press for rule changes to support biomass co-firing
Major generators are progressing with trial co-firing of biomass in coal-fired power stations - but say they will stop co-firing in three years time unless rules under the renewables obligation are changed. However, there is a risk that such a relaxation may prompt large-scale imports of wood wastes from North America instead of boosting the growth of energy crops in the UK.
