Government pressed to get a move on with low-carbon vehicles

The Government was criticised for making a slow start in implementing its strategy for low-carbon vehicles during a House of Commons debate on 12 December. It also came under pressure to clarify whether the reduced fuel duty on LPG will continue beyond 2004 - a decision which may prove crucial to sustaining confidence in taxation as an instrument for promoting reduced emission vehicles.
