EU breakthrough on emissions trading, traceability of GM foods
Important proposals to establish an EU greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme and set up traceability and labelling rules for genetically modified organisms in the food and animal feed chain were agreed at the Environment Council on 9-10 December. Ministers also agreed conclusions to inform the European Commission's work on chemicals policy, mercury and pesticides.
