Enforcement action

The Environment Agency has issued an enforcement notice against Dow Corning of Barry, South Wales, following an investigation into the loss of a radioactive source. The source was sent to metal recycling company TNS in Cardiff on 9 November 2000, contained within an item of redundant equipment. Dow did not discover the loss until 21 December when it informed the Agency. The source has not been recovered and is believed to have been recycled as scrap steel.
