Car manufacturers embrace natural fibres

The international automotive industry is emerging as a major market for components made from natural fibres. Hemp growers in the UK have established a firm client base in Germany and are building up business in other EC countries and the USA. But the next few years could prove critical to the survival of this new market, which is under threat from reduced agricultural subsidies and from EC legislation to reduce the environmental impacts of vehicles at the end of their lives.
